In Need of a Saviour

Sola Gratia

Much has happened since I last sat to write. Even longer since I read, wrote, and shared consistently. I am forgiven. I am set free. Hallelujah!

His grace is sufficient.

You must’ve heard about how discipline is better than motivation. Now consider that grace is better than discipline.

Discipline is self-control. It is about the willpower and inner strength to obey.

Grace is supernatural, it makes it impossible to disobey. My fingers appear as skilled dancers moving delicately and deliberately across the keyboard. The Holy Spirit is pulling the invisible strings attached to my fingers.

Be still. Amen.

Let things be. Do not crave control and cheap amusement. Be comfortable in stillness, boredom, and discomfort.

When you’re bored, do it well. Do not let your mind ruminate, preferring the cheap amusement of repetitive thoughts about the past or future. Submit to a kind of ‘mindful boredom,’ if you will.

Ironically, being still or bored seems to switch on the mind. When I enter a state of boredom, my mind becomes an exciting place. It begins to explore the world for beauty, wonder and amusement.

Create or die.

It is that simple. I don’t know about anyone else, but it is true in my case. The moment I stop creating, I begin to rot from the inside out.

It’s an auto-exacerbating spiral. When I stop creating, I die, which stops me from creating, and so on. Moreover, creating is worship. It is a state of high focus, attention, and sensitivity. It is stillness, inspiration, imagination, proclamation, reasoning, strategy, and problem-solving.

When I forget Jerusalem and do not consider it to be my highest joy, my right hand forgets its skill, and my tongue clings to the roof of my mouth.
